High-Risk
Vegetation
FAQ.
Straight answers for councils, asset managers, contractors, and property owners managing slope, access constraints, or operator exposure risk.
What ARC11 does
Remote-controlled vegetation management designed to reduce operator exposure, manage steep terrain, and work safely around sensitive assets and constrained access.
Who this is for
Councils, utilities, civil contractors, and property managers where conventional plant introduces unacceptable risk to operators, assets, or the environment.

When slope, soft ground, constrained access, or proximity to assets increases operator risk or damage risk using conventional plant. Specifically: slopes where rollover risk cannot be adequately controlled, wet or unstable ground that limits safe machine access, sites adjacent to drains, culverts, or infrastructure where manned plant contact risk is high, and any work where operator exposure cannot be managed through conventional controls.

Typically per scope. High-risk work is not just mowing time — it's risk control, access method, terrain assessment, and compliance. Pricing reflects the full method, not just hours on site.

Yes, where required. Documentation scope depends on the site and principal contractor or council requirements. ARC11 can provide site-specific work methods, risk assessments, and records aligned with WHS requirements. For councils requiring contractor pre-qualification documentation, insurance certificates and method statements are available on request.
Up to 60°. This covers the majority of steep road batters, rail embankments, drainage lines, and hillside terrain encountered in typical infrastructure and land management applications. If you have a specific gradient in mind, mention it when you make contact and we can confirm suitability.
ARC11 is based in the Great Southern region and services Western Australia broadly — including Albany, Denmark, Esperance, Mount Barker, and surrounding shires. For sites outside the immediate region, contact us with your location and we can confirm availability and any travel considerations.

Councils & Compliance
Yes. ARC11 can provide all standard pre-qualification documentation — insurance certificates, ABN, SWMS, method statements, and relevant safety documentation. Contact us directly and we'll provide what's required for your council's contractor assessment process.
On steep or unstable terrain, the continued use of manned machinery increases both the likelihood and consequence of rollover incidents and operator injury. Where safer, reasonably practicable alternatives exist, reliance on traditional plant may be difficult to justify if works are later reviewed by Worksafe, environmental regulators, or internal auditors.
The key question is not whether vegetation was cleared, but whether the selected method appropriately reduced known risks. If a method exists that removes the operator from the hazard zone and a council or contractor fails to consider it, that creates avoidable liability.

Yes. ARC11 constructs and maintains firebreaks on steep, unstable, or access-constrained terrain where conventional machinery increases rollover risk or operator exposure. Documentation can be aligned with local government firebreak order requirements. Contact us ahead of the season — availability is limited during peak firebreak periods.

Site & Equipment
The slope mowing head handles established grasses, light scrub, and pasture. The forestry mulching head processes woody scrub, regrowth, and storm debris up to 150mm diameter. For larger timber or complex clearance, we'll advise on what falls within scope and what may require a different approach.
Mulched material remains on site as ground cover — supporting soil stability, moisture retention, and erosion control. This avoids the cost and logistics of removal. For drainage corridors where material retention isn't suitable due to flow constraints, this can be discussed at scope stage.
Yes. The remote-controlled operation and compact footprint make ARC11 suitable for work adjacent to drains, culverts, retaining walls, solar panels, fencing, and transport corridor infrastructure. The controlled cutting head reduces the risk of uncontrolled discharge compared to conventional manned plant. Asset proximity requirements can be confirmed at scope stage.
Use the site assessment tool to select your area, vegetation type, and terrain — we'll follow up with a scope and price same business day. Or call 0436 121 666 or email info@arc11.com.au directly. We don't need a detailed brief to start — a rough site description and location is enough.
Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm. Weekend work is available by appointment for projects where scheduling requires it. Discuss your timing requirements when making contact.
Risk comparison
Method vs method
Conventional plant
vs ARC11
remote-controlled.
A direct comparison of how each method performs across the risk factors that matter most in high-risk terrain environments.
| Factor | Conventional Plant | ARC11 Remote-Controlled |
|---|---|---|
| Operator exposure | Operator remains in the hazard zone on slope | Operator removed from hazard zone entirely Reduced exposure |
| Steep terrain | Limited by stability margins and safety requirements | Designed for high-risk slope environments up to 60° Purpose-built |
| Ground pressure | Higher ground pressure — disturbance on soft or sensitive sites | 2.4 psi ultra-low — suitable for wet, post-burn, and erosion-prone ground Low impact |
| Asset protection | Higher contact risk in tight corridors and near infrastructure | Controlled operation — better contact management near assets Asset-safe |
| WHS defensibility | May be difficult to justify where safer alternatives exist | Documented risk control aligned with hierarchy of controls Documented |
| Documentation | Standard contractor records | Method statements, SWMS, compliance records available Audit-ready |
Honest assessment
When ARC11 may not be the best option
We'll tell you if a standard contractor is the better call.
- Large flat open areas with no access or terrain constraints
- Low-risk mowing where operator exposure is minimal
- Projects where lowest-cost method is the only requirement
- Sites where standard mowing equipment can safely and adequately do the work
ARC11 is a specialist service for terrain and risk-constrained work. If your site is flat and accessible, a general vegetation contractor will likely be a more cost-effective option. We'll tell you that upfront — it's not in our interest to take on work that doesn't require what we do.
"If terrain, access, or risk matters — ARC11 is the correct control. If it doesn't, we'll point you in the right direction."
